Gratitude!

"Aankh teri bekaar hi nam hai
Har pal ek naya mausam hai
Kyun tu aise pal khota hai?
Dil aakhir tu kyun rota hai?"

Really, why? Why do we let these moments that hold an undiscovered treasure trove of memories waiting to be made, go? Why do we not tell those who keep us alive by falling into our stride, urging us to move faster if their feet are pacing and slow down when they tug you into line with them, that they're indispensable and valuable to us?

I don't want to wake up one day and regret that I didn't tell someone how important they are to me because it's too late. It's crucial to give these people the credit they deserve for loving us for and in spite of who we are, without waiting for an occasion to thank them. Isn't life, after all, in all its glory worth celebrating just because you're privileged enough to be alive?

So here's a shout out to all my people who keep me going with a push, shove or gentle encouragement. Thank you for believing in me when I didn't have the courage to take that step that's got me one step closer to being where I want to, today. Thank you for the solace that your presence bestows on me in thunderstruck nights and love that keeps me listening to music and breaking into a happy jig with spring in step because I'm so lucky to be breathing!

Thanks Prabhad for bringing to my notice, the significance of the reservoir of knowledge that's brimming behind the bookshelves of my brain as I devoured an Enid Blyton and Ayn Rand over these 19 years and further strengthen my conviction in the belief that "you're not only the ripples people can see. You're made of oceans."

Tell your people what they mean to you because they're a part of your life this second. Don't let these precious seconds pass you by. Go out, seize them and make them count. In the end, they're all you'll have. I promise, you'll feel better for it when the time comes and you're unable to carry the treasure chest laden with pearly happiness and golden moments that defined you.
